Virtue and Moir to receive stars on Canada’s Walk of Fame
Another honour is being bestowed on Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir.
It has been announced that they will be among the 2018 inductees to Canada’s Walk of Fame, which also includes: Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress Andrea Martin; astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield; legendary poet and singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen; Award-winning singer-songwriter Andy Kim; International President of Doctors Without Borders Dr. Joanne Liu; comedy movie-making duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg; and entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist Jimmy Pattison.
Canada’s Walk of Fame celebrates outstanding achievement in five areas: arts and entertainment, business and entrepreneurship, philanthropy and humanities, science and technology, sports and athletics. Member of the public can nominate Canadians for induction who have made an impact on Canadian heritage, have at least 10 years experience in their field with an established body of work, and represent the essence of what it means to be Canadian.
Virtue and Moir more than fill that criteria.
In their 20th season together, they became the most decorated figure skaters in Olympic history. Their gold medals in the team and ice dance events at PyeongChang 2018 added to a resume that already included a gold medal from Vancouver 2010 and a pair of silver medals from Sochi 2014.
Their first time atop the Olympic podium was also history-making, a breakthrough for North American ice dance. Virtue and Moir ended a streak of European dominance that had existed since ice dance became an Olympic event in 1976. They were also the youngest ever Olympic ice dance champions at 20 and 22.
Their career includes three world titles, most recently in 2017 when the victory capped an undefeated season. As a sign of their impact on Canadian sport, Virtue and Moir led Team Canada as the Opening Ceremony flagbearers at PyeongChang 2018.
The ceremony to officially induct the class of 2018 to Canada’s Walk of Fame will take place at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto on December 1. The show will air on CTV in December. After that, fans will be able to find their stars along with the 173 others that have been placed on downtown streets since 1998.
Virtue and Moir are far from the first Olympians to be honoured by Canada’s Walk of Fame. The list includes iconic figure skaters Barbara Ann Scott, Kurt Browning, and Toller Cranston. If you’re looking to complete a scavenger hunt of the stars belonging to Olympians, here’s who you’ll have to find:

Team Brad Jacobs hosted their 6th Annual Century 21 Charity Golf Classic this weekend, featuring celebrities Colin Miller from the Vegas Golden Knights and Scott Moir, Olympic champion ice-dancer.
All proceeds from the tournament will be split between Team Brad Jacob’s Follow Your Dreams Bursary at Algoma University and the Sault Area Hospital’s Maternal Child Fund. ONNtv’s Alex Parr had the opportunity to catch up with Scott Moir at the Machine Shop, where the dinner and silent auction was held after the tournament.

To say hockey played a role in Scott Moir becoming an Olympic athlete wouldn’t be a stretch.
The Canadian figure skater, who has five Olympic medals with partner Tessa Virtue, got involved in the sport in part because it was a chance to improve his skating.
“I didn’t care for it (figure skating), to be honest,” Moir said. “I knew that to be a better hockey player, I had to skate. I learned to skate and then it was always just moving forward in hockey until I met Tessa. That changed everything for me.”
“There is this young girl who could jump higher than me, skate faster than me and that really bothered me,” Moir added. “That competitiveness really drove us forward. That was the first time I had to set goals and make sure that I wasn’t just messing around all the time.“
As partners, Moir and Virtue would go on to win three Olympic gold medals, including in PyeongChang, South Korea last winter, along with a pair of silver medals.
“It was completely different,” Moir said of the 2018 Olympics. “We had three different Olympic experiences and they were all totally different. The last Olympics were extremely fulfilling.
“We got to do what was near and dear to our hearts program-wise,” Moir added. “It was a fun ride. We were all on the same page. It felt like all of the lessons that we learned up to 2017 just set us up perfectly for the last games.”
Moir and Virtue took time off before returning to competitive figure skating in early 2016 with hopes of making it back to the Olympics.
“I love the Olympics,” Moir said. “We came back just for another shot at the games. Being a Canadian Olympian, is just different. The Canadian winter team is just so tight. We support each other. I have so much respect for all of the athletes. We hang out, support each other. We go to every single event that we can.
“There’s a connection,” Moir added. “There’s just something different about the way we do the Olympics in Canada. It’s because of the support that we get from the Canadian public. It was a special time for us. A lot of the people we were at the Olympics with in Korea, we had been to Sochi, Russia (in 2014) with and some even in Vancouver (in 2010).”
Moir said that “the most fascinating part about being an Olympian is that what (sport) you do is so different, but the way you approach it is so similar.”
Moir and Virtue are part of a cross-Canada tour that will stop in Sault Ste. Marie in the fall and features many of the best figure skaters the country has to offer.
“We’ve had a lot of support across the country and we’re very lucky in our career to get support from Canadian figure skating fans across the country and a lot of them aren’t in the 12 major markets,” Moir said. “These markets are smaller, and they’ve always travelled to watch us do shows so we wanted to go to say thank you to all of these fans who have supported us throughout the years and try to give them a skating show that’s different from anything they’ve ever seen before.”
In addition to Moir and Virtue, the Thank You Canada Tour includes the likes of Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford, Patrick Chan, Kaetlyn Osmond and Elvis Stojko.

Mi è piaciuta l'intervista Mi ha fatto morire l'intervistatrice era partita tutta calma e professionale a parlare con i due giornalisti in studio e quando ha detto "andiamo dentro da TS" e ha iniziato ad intervistarli... fangirl a gogo hahahaahahahahah si è agitata in un attimo che strano effetto che hanno Intervista anche il protagonista dello show e dice che loro sono gentili e carismatici e come li vedi sul ghiaccio sono fuori.... interessante commento Dice anche che tutti quelli del cast erano in escandescenza perchè loro erano sul set e pure la figlia Loro belli come sempre c'è molta botta e risposta tra di loro Scott dice che pensava a cosa indossare per essere adatto nello show e sembrare un membro contributivo della comunità Scelta perfetta direi
